In the passenger carriage manufacturing facility of the Kriukiv Railway Car Manufacturing Plant (KVBZ), the assembly of DTKr-3 diesel trains is underway.
Currently, three diesel trains are being assembled: DTKr-3-004, 005, and 006. These comprise 9 cars: 6 main (motorized) cars and 3 intermediate cars. The main cars of the diesel trains are located in the second section of the passenger carriage manufacturing facility, while the intermediate cars are in the third section. The DTKr-3-004 is in the stage of active assembly of all systems. The undercarriage equipment, life support systems, electronics, automation, and interior fittings are being installed.
As emphasized by KVBZ, this train features, for the first time, interior components manufactured by KVBZ. These include plastic cladding elements for the passenger compartments. To achieve this, the plant has mastered a new technology for producing interior components using thermoforming. A thermoforming machine and a state-of-the-art 5-axis CNC milling machine have been purchased for this purpose, both located in the furniture section of the passenger carriage manufacturing facility. Additionally, fuel tanks with a
capacity of up to one ton of diesel each are being prepared for installation. These tanks were also manufactured in the assembly and welding shop of KVBZ. In a specially equipped area, the assembly of SACDM
cabinets—systems for automatic control and diagnostic monitoring—is also in progress.
On the DTKr-3-005 and DTKr-3-006 cars, work has already begun on installing and laying electrical harnesses and interior components. In a few months, these trains are expected to be ready for acceptance and trial run
testing.
